Does it seem like all you do these days is send out resumes? Do you feel like your job search has hit rock bottom? Sometimes things have to get worse to get better.
When in a job search slump, there is no better time to take a step back and analyze your process. First things first, your resume is a sales brochure and the jobs you are applying to are your customers. Take a look at your sales brochure (resume) and ask yourself if this will attract the customers you want (job prospects). No matter what, there are always changes that can be made to a resume.

If you have been on the market for a while and have not considered contract work, it may be a good idea to expand your search. Contract work can do great things, for one money in your pocket. Also, it can take the pain out of searching fulltime for a job. Best part of all, contract work allows for networking with people and can lead to permanent opportunities.
If you are getting interviews, analyze how far you are getting. Do you know what is preventing the hiring manager from moving forward? Do you know what the next steps are? Remember job interviews are two-sided. Good questions are important. Good closing questions are even more important. Always follow-up by e-mail with a thank you.
